The EFETnet Vision
"EFETnet enables energy traders to exchange standardised data over a central industry-wide infrastructure. First between members, service providers (e.g. the broker community), and in the future, access standard services over this same infrastructure."
Hugh Brunswick, EFETnet Director

What is EFETnet B.V.?
EFETnet B.V. is an independent company 100% owned by the European Federation of Energy Traders (EFET). EFET was founded in 1999 by Europe’s leading energy companies. EFETnet B.V. was set up in 2004 by EFET to serve those actively involved in energy trading. It is intended to deliver the benefits of electronic data exchange standardisation that was first pioneered by EFET and its members.

What does EFETnet B.V. do?
EFETnet coordinates the provision of a central electronic infrastructure defined by the EFET standards. It also acts as a cost sharing vehicle for the industry as a whole, thus delivering a guaranteed level of data exchange services to all market participants at optimal cost.

How can I profit from EFETnet?

EFETnet is the single contracting entity for data exchange between:

  • Outsourced infrastructure providers
  • Industry users and counterparties
  • Service providers, such as brokers

EFETnet keeps control with the energy traders by:
  • Managing EFET Standards for data exchange
  • Managing and coordinating the infrastructure upgrades
  • Bridging the gap between standards development and implementation

EFETnet is an impartial party acting as:
  • An impartial body owned by EFET members
  • A known single point of responsibility
  • A secure and auditable entity
